Psalm 41 Continued…

Psalm 41:10-12 But you, O Lord, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them. I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.

David opened Psalm 41 sharing his fears and then he began to speak openly about his foes. But here David turns back to his faith. Keep in mind, David was very cognizant of the reality of his own sin. He even attributed that to his illness which led ultimately to his own son’s rebellion and opened the door for his enemies to pounce.

But he didn’t stay there. He was certainly haunted by his past, but he refused to remain captive to it. Same with you. I am quite certain you can easily recall a moment, a sin, that you not only deeply regret but one that may have even changed your life forever. But God’s grace came into your life. And He rescued you. He saved you.

He came to your hospital room and provided you with the exact kind of care that restored and healed you. God is that good. And because of what He has done, we have good reason, like David, to know that He will continue to be good to us. We can trust Him. We have a proven track record with the Lord.

Your faith is so vital. You cannot stay focused on your past sins. You must always turn your heart back to what God has done for you and why He is so worthy of all of your trust.

PRAY

Thank you Father for your grace in my life.

What I Do: I am the Minister of the Word at The Fort. My primary duties are teaching the scriptures and casting a vision for God’s family at The Fort. Interesting Fact About Me: I have felt a call to preach since I was in ninth grade. The Fort is only my second church to serve as a preacher, and, God willing, will be my last. I Choose To Worship At The Fort Because: I believe in the vision of this church, and I trust the leadership of this church. Most of all, though, I love the people of The Fort–their passion, their generosity, and their commitment to the mission of God.
